Hair Restoration Procedures

Dr. Dauer limits his practice exclusively to Hair Restoration treatments. He uses the latest techniques and technology to create completely natural results.

Dr. Dauer personally educates every patient to all the options available to treat their hair loss. Dr. Dauer’s consultations include a thorough history and examination of your scalp. He also uses the Proscope, which is a 200x digital microscope to visualize your hair follicles on a microscopic level. These technologies allow us to properly diagnose the cause of hair loss and track the results from your hair loss treatments.

Follicular Unit Transplantation

This is the state of the art procedure for Hair Transplantation where naturally occurring follicular units are transferred from the donor region in the back and sides of the scalp and moved to the areas of hair loss. We typically harvest the follicles by taking a thin strip of hair from the donor regions and suturing the area thus leaving a small linear scar that is concealed by the surrounding hair. We then dissect the strip into the naturally occurring hair follicles and transplant these natural follicles into the areas of thinning. Because we are transferring the hair follicles exactly as they naturally occur, this procedure allows for completely natural and undetectable results. We are also able to perform single sessions with more follicles than were ever possible in the past.

Follicular Unit Extraction

This is a new technique where we harvest each hair follicle individually with a special tool that resembles a drill with the bit ranging in size from .8mm, .9mm, 1mm. There are distinct advantages and disadvantages to this procedure and Dr. Dauer and review them all with you so that you can make an informed and educated decision as to which method is best for you.

For Women

Hair loss in women is very different from hair loss in men and thus requires a completely different approach. We routinely conduct a thorough review of the medical history as well and a trichoscan which involves video microscopy of the hair follicles. We also see many female patients with scars from other surgical procedures who require hair transplants to cover the scarred areas that are missing hair.

Repair Procedures

Unfortunately there are many patients who have received unsatisfactory results from other clinics. We commonly treat these patients, which may include, repairing an unnatural hairline, revising a donor scar, transplanting hairs into a donor scar, and excising old plugs.

Eyebrow Transplants

Dr. Dauer was one of the first surgeons in the world to transplant hair into the eyebrows. We perform this procedure regularly for both men and women who have experienced loss of eyebrow hair.

Hairline Advancement

Lowering the hairline can be accomplished through follicular unit hair transplantation with completely natural results.

Facial Hair Transplants

Facial hair transplants may be used to restore or fill in the goatee, mustache, sideburns, and beard regions. Hair Transplants may also be used to create facial hair where there is none existing to conceal scarring from acne or skin diseases or in transgender patients.
